Yesterday while out to lunch with my sister pre-celebrating her birthday, one of the topics of conversation was about age and how in 5 years time, I will be 50 years old.
To me back in the day, 50 sounded old. When you are in your teens and in your twenties I guess it does sound very old, but honestly, I am actually looking forward to turning 50! Wow, I never thought I would say that, but it is honestly my truth.
Why is that? When I look at all the female celebrities that are in their 50's or about to turn 50 and are looking so much sexier and healthier than some 20 something models, it inspires me. That is exactly what I am aiming for and this is why I try to look after myself so much today.
I don't want to be an old woman that disappears with age...I want to be stronger and happier than I've ever been and looking as damn hot as those celebrities.
Now I know many of you reading this are thinking, yes but they are celebrities and they have the money and the time to look after themselves, as well as they, can hire professionals to work out with, but I want to say to you...change that record. That is just excuse talking.
We live in a world where there is so much available online that you no longer need a Personal Trainer in the room with you to workout and gain a fantastic body. There are so many apps available that you can use (I highly recommend CENTR Chris Hemsworth's fitness app) and many PFT's offer online programmes as well as face to face options, so an even greater advantage.
And if we look at time - well yes time can play a factor and often many of these celebs spend nearly 2 hours every day working out, but they also work longer hours than the average 9 to 5 as well as having to do publicity interviews between working etc, so their working hours are long and they possibly have to do a lot of traveling in addition to that. So where's your excuse now?
It's just a matter of choosing the best time that works for you to workout and trust me, you don't have to do a 2 hour workout every day. 30 minutes is just as effective if you push yourself to get the most out of those 30 minutes.
Hair, beauty, general appearance...all these are again about factoring time to look after yourself and taking the time out to keep your skin, body, hair, and face in the optimum condition.
I think many of us older ladies need to be inspired by these older celebs and come away from judging their lifestyle or believing that it works for them but cannot work for you.
It can work for you, you just have to change your mindset about looking after yourself and making it a priority.
You may not be in the public eye as much as these celebs but that is no excuse for letting yourself go and giving up on your physical self. You have years to enjoy life and the more you value you and look after yourself mind, body and spiritually, the more you will look and feel awesome in your 50s, 60s and beyond.
So don't be afraid to grow older and don't be afraid to find out what the celebs are doing to look and feel great. Just take some tips from them and be the celeb in your own life.
Until next time
Peace and Blessings
